SOP FOR OPERATION AND CLEANING OF CARTON PACKING MACHINE

OBJECTIVE: To lay down the procedure for operation and cleaning of Carton Packing Machine.

SCOPE: This procedure is applicable to operation and cleaning of Carton Packing Machine.

RESPONSIBILITY: It is the responsibility of operator and production Chemist to follow the procedure as prescribed in this SOP during Carton Packing Machine Operation.

Officer/Supervisor or designee of IPQA is responsible for the line clearance and verification of the related documents along with ensuring the compliance of SOP.

Technician/Officer or designee of engineering department is responsible for the maintenance/repair work of the machine if any break down occurs during the operation.

Manager/Executive or designee of Production department is responsible for giving the training on regarding tasks and review the related records.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Head –Production: To ensure system compliance.

Head – Quality Assurance: To ensure implementation of system as per defined system.

PROCEDURE:

Operation:

Production person shall ensure the cleanliness of the Machine & area.

Before starting the operation production person get the line clearance from as per procedure.

Start the compress air supply.’lt should be 6-8kg/ cm2.

The packing office key box inserts the key and turns the machine to JOG MODE.

Put ON the main switch.

Go to SET data.

Enter bottle unload number as per packing configuration specified in batch packing record.

Go to Production data.

Enter 3 digits Password.

Enter product name batch no., batch size, mfg., and exp. As per batch packing record.

Press the switch button and enter all operation in AUTO mode.

Check the dropping of Bottle.

Adjust the bucket width as per carton dimension.

Adjust hopper and compression plate as per pack size.

Base plate of hopper should be in line with bucket chain/belt of the conveyor.

Adjust the hopper such that inner left sidewall of hopper should match with the inner side of fix bucket Wall.

Check position of cartons in carton magazine.

Check suction of cartons with help of jack and machine hand wheel.

Check forming of cartons.

Check tucks and closes of cartons.

Check suction and folding of leaflets.

Check feeding of product and leaflets in cartons.

Do all the adjustments carefully.

Use the scale Reading, Cam Timing and change part identification chart for minimizing the errors.

Check that the blister machines supply is made ON and then put ON the carton supply.

Check for correct quantity of bottle release from the magazine.

Put the machine in auto mode removes the key and keeps it in key box of packaging office.

Check the interlocking of the sensor is proper.

Check the No Blister No Carton performance.

Check the empty carton challenge test at the discharge end.

Start the packaging activity.

Start the leaflet by activating key and check for correct operation of leaflet insertion.

Check for the correct operation of rejection mechanism for the cartons or missing leaflets.

Load the cartons and /or leaflets when the lower level is crossed and the blue lamp starts flashing on the beacon.

Use normal stop push button only for stoppage of the machine unless there is an emergency.

If the packing activity of the same batch is continued next day then first removes the specimen of overprinted/ embossed carton and get it approved from QA before starting the line.

After completion of batch/ product packaging operation affix ‘To be Cleaned’ status label.

Cleaning

Switch “OFF” the Carton Packing Machine and clean with lint free cloth.

Do the clean air blower or compressed air

Before cleaning the manual Carton Packing Machine, please ensure that power is “OFF”.

Clean the Carton Packing Machine with lint free cloth.

Open and clean the panel internally and externally using vacuum cleaner/air blower.

Collect the Cartons that have fallen from all sides of the machine have to be raised and destroy as per procedure describe in SOP.

Clean the dust around the machine with a dry lint free clean cloth.
