Objective: The purpose of this SOP is to lay down a procedure for validation of digital calculator.

Scope: This SOP is applicable to all digital calculator use in Quality Control Department.

Responsibility: Chemist or above of QC laboratory.

Accountability: Head – Quality Control.

Procedure:

Identification to Calculator: Calculators existing in department shall be identified by specific alpha numeric pattern as given QCCLC-01…02…03.

Where;

QC : Quality Control

CLC : Calculator

01 : Serial number

Procedure for calculator Validation:

Visual Examination: Check the calculator for physical breakage if any

verification of display authenticity:

Press digit “1” 12 times.

Acceptance Criteria: Display should show all the 12 “1” clearly

Repeat the same with digit (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9) to check the clarity of display provided.

Acceptance Criteria: Display should show all the digits clearly.

Ensure that all the printed matter on buttons are clearly legible.

Calculation to check functioning of all keys:

Perform calculations as mentioned in table I manually and record the observation.

Square root and divide results shall be calculated through logarithm table and shall be matched up to one decimal place.

Maintain a list of validated calculator and list shall be updated every six month and after validation of new calculator, which ever is earlier.

Each calculator shall be re-validated after every six months.
