SOP on Entry and Exit procedure in Quality Control laboratory
PURPOSE: To define procedures for entry and exit procedures in the laboratory/ Quality Control department.
SCOPE: This SOP applies to the quality control department
RESPONSIBILITY
QC Person: To prepare and follow the SOP.
Head QC: To ensure implementation of the defined system.
PROCEDURE
Entry Procedure:
For sections other than Microbiology
Enter in the change room.
Remove the street shoes and keep them in the shoe rack.
Remove the overcoats (i.e. coats, jackets, sweaters, etc) & keep them in the racks provided on the outer side cross-over bench.
Cross over the bench.
Use dedicated slippers only provided in the change room for going into the quality control
Collect the clean linen/ laboratory dress from the change room.
Put on the laboratory dress and cap in the change room.
Enter into the laboratory after wearing the laboratory dress.
For Microbiologist
Remove all street garments and shoes if a person is working in the microbiology section. Wear slippers and a primary dress provided in the cabinet or dedicated for storing the primary garments of microbiologists.
Wear the slipper, cap, and apron dedicated to the inside area.
Wipe the hands with disinfectants available in the changing room.
For Visitors
Disposable shoe covers and caps may be provided to visitors at the time of visit to the laboratory
Enter in cthe hange room.
Remove the overcoats (i.e. coats, jackets, sweaters, etc) & keep them in the racks provided on the outer side cross-over bench.
Take out your cap & apron, and look into the mirror for proper gowning.
Wipe the hands with disinfectant provided in the change room cross the over bench and enter
Exit Procedure
Enter into the change room before leaving the respective department.
Remove the cap, apron, and slippers and keep them at the designated place.
Put the dress in the linen bin if the dress is dirty.
Cross over the bench.
Wear the personal footwear and garments.
Send all dirty dresses for washing every day.
Precautions
Ensure proper gowning in front of the mirror.
Always start gowning from the upper to lower of the body after putting on the shoes, while the procedure shall be reversible while exiting.
Wipe hands before gowning & after putting off the shoes.
