- MAINTENANCE OF COOLING TOWER
- OBJECTIVE
- To lay down a procedure for Maintenance of Cooling Tower
- SCOPE
- This SOP is applicable to Cooling Tower.
- RESPONSIBILITY

- PROCEDURE
- Daily Maintenance
- Check for any vibration and abnormal noise from the Total unit.
- Check and ensure free rotation of Water Distributor.
- Blow down the water from the basin for removing high salt concentrated water.
- Treat the water with chemical of 2710 (1000 ml / 315 Tr & 500 ml / 125Tr)
- Check and ensure hardness & PH values of water in the sump within limits.(hardness is below 50 and ph 7-8)
- Check and ensure the motor guard is in position.
- Put a Tick mark (Ö) in Daily Check Sheet after completion of each activity. If it is not O.K put a cross (X) in Daily Check Sheet indicating the reason in remarks column.
- Immediately inform to the concern superior if it is not O.K (X) and take necessary corrective action as per the advice.
- Any such deviations should be maintained in the Machine History Cord along with necessary corrective action and its complaints there of.
- Weekly Maintenance
- Ensure no cracks on Hub & blades.
- Check and ensure the 315 Tr motor load should be 12-15 Amps & 125 Tr motor load should be 6-8 Amps
- Check and ensure float valve function.
- Ensure the earthing connected to the motor by checking with earth megger.
- Ensure smooth and snag operation of all valves.
- Treat the water with chemical of 606 (1000 ml / 315 Tr & 250 ml / 125Tr)
- Put a Tick mark (Ö) in Weekly Check Sheet .
- Monthly Maintenance
- Check and clean the distribution pipe.
- Tighten the motor base bolts & fan blade bolts.
- Clean the motor externally with Coracloth.
- Clean the air inlet mesh.
- Treat the water with chemical of 2002 (1000 ml / 315 Tr & 250 ml / 125Tr)
- Check and ensure no water spillage from tower & basin to outside.
- Clean the control panel with air blowers.
- Ensure the function of temperature controller with respect to temperature setting (Range from 22º – 32ºC.)
- Put a Tick mark (Ö) in Monthly Check Sheet.
- Half Yearly Maintenance
- Regrease the motor bearings.
- Clean the water basin with wire brush & remove scale.
- Check and ensure no leaks from water basin.
- Inspect general condition of structural members..
- Put a Tick mark (Ö) in Half Yearly Check Sheet.
- Yearly Maintenance
- Check the condition of packing fills, distributor and eliminator, replace if any thing got damaged.
- Overhaul the motor.
- Check the RPM of the motor with respect to name plate specifications. (1440)
- Calibrate the Inlet & outlet pressure & temperature gauges.
- Put a Tick mark (Ö) in Yearly Check Sheet.
