PROCEDURE FOR OPERATION AND CALIBRATION OF ANEMOMETER
PURPOSE: To lay down a procedure for the Operation and calibration of an Anemometer for measuring of air Velocity.
SCOPE: This procedure is applicable for the Operation and calibration of anemometer which is used for the measuring of air Velocity. Anemometer shall commonly be used in both plant & ID-allocated.
OTHER RESOURCES: SILVER SULPHADIAZINE AND CHLORHEXIDINE CREAM
DEFINITION:
ANEMOMETER: a device for measuring the rate of airflow through a tube. The rate at which air flows into or out is measured by using a calibrated anemometer.
RESPONSIBILITY:
QA Department Person: To use the instrument as per the defined procedure.
PROCEDURE:
- SAFETY/PRECAUTION/EHS: Before use ensure the calibration status of the instrument.
- Operation procedure :
- Select the “Off /On /Hold Switch.” To the “On” position.
- Select the “Function Switch” to the “m /s”, “km/h”, “ft/min” or “knots” position according to the measuring requirement.
- Hold the “Vane Probe Handle” by hand & let the “Vane Probe Handle” be opposite to the measuring airflow source, then the Display will show velocities directly in the elected unit.
- The yellow dot mark on the sensor head indicates the “yellow dot mark” needs to face against the direction of airflow about 4-6 inches from the source outlet.
- Allow the reading to stabilize.
- During the measurement, it will hold the display values if select the “Off /On /Hold Switch.” To the “hold” position & note the measured value.
- Replacement of battery :
- When the left corner of the LCD shows “LOWBAT”, it is necessary to replace the battery. However, in –spec. measurement may still be made for several hours after low battery cover away from the instrument and remove the battery.
- Loose the “Battery Cover screw”, slide the battery cover away from the instrument, and remove the cover.
- Replace with 9V battery (Heavy duty type) and reinstate the cover.
- Make sure the battery cover is secured with the screw after changing the battery.
- Frequency for calibration: Yearly (± 30 Days) by outside Agency.
