CHEMICAL CLEANING Reverse RO System and EDI System

  • CHEMICAL CLEANING Reverse RO System and EDI System

  • RO CLEANING – CITRIC ACID
  • Preparation of Cleaning solution:
  • Prepare a solution of 2% (By weight) of Citric acid (C6H8O7). This is useful in removing of inorganic scales and organic based colloidal material. Recommended quantity is 7.7 kg Citric acid (100 % powder) which is to be added to 380 liters of dilution water. Adjust the pH using Ammonium Hydroxide to pH of 4.
  • Procedure:
  • Take RO permeate or DI water in a tank. Ensure that water should be free of chlorine.
  • Initially flush some amount of water through the RO pressure vessel for a period of 5 min with reject and permeate to drain.
  • Again take fresh RO permeate water or DI water in tank.
  • Prepare solution as mention above in tank.
  • Connect a hose to concentrate outlet and put other end to cleaning tank.
  • Connect a hose to the permeate outlet and put other end to cleaning tank.
  • Circulate the chemical for 1 hour from tank to RO using external pump (Not high pressure pump). Ensure that the pressure during cleaning at the inlet of the RO should not exceed 4 bar. This can be done by adjusting the feed valve to the membrane housing.
  • After circulation flush the system until RO conductivity is < 20 us/cm.
  • RO CLEANING – NaOH
  • Preparation of Cleaning solution:
  • Prepare a solution of 1 % (By weight) of NaOH & Tipol this is useful in removing of organic foulant of natural organic, colloidal foulant.

  • EDI Cleaning
  • EDI cannot be cleaned with chemical, once EDI chocked it has to be replaced.
