- Objective:
- To lay down a procedure for operation of Ink jet printing machine.
- Scope
- This SOP is applicable for operation of Ink jet printing machine (make:Image).

- Start-up
- Ensure the cleanliness of area and machine.
- Check the line clearance of the machine.
- Switch “ON” the mains and press “ON/OFF” key. Which is provided on the left side of the cabinet. Start printer “YES” or “NO” will be displayed on the LCD. Select “yes” to start the printer.
- “Starts in progress” will be displayed on the LCD (Liquid crystal display) screen.
- Check the green indicator on jet ON/OFF start to flash.
- 1/15, 2/15——- up to 15/15(one by one in same space) will be displayed on the top left corner of the LCD screen. This shows that starting process is going on When sequencing of counting will reach to 15/15,blinking of test print will be stopped and instead of 15/15, “ ON” will be seen .This indicates that printer is ready to prints.

- To select and print stored message (F1)
- Press function key “F1” through key board which is provided on the below of LCD
- Stored message list will be displayed on the LCD find the required message by pressing selection key, then press “ENTER” key which is provided on the right of the cabinet.
- Press “F3” LCD will show full message of selected message.
- Select submenus “Message” by pressing “ESC”
- Select drop down command “Load Printer”.
- Press ‘ENTER’ key.
- Message will be printed on each print.
- To create and print the new message (F2):
- Press function key” F2” through key board which is provided on the below of LCD screen.
- Message name ………….. Will be display on the LCD.
- Type the message name through keyboard.
- Press “ENTER” key.
- Type the required message.
- Select the sub menus (message, font, variable, parameter.) and drop down command (new, open, save, save as atc.0 for the message.
- Press “ESC” key.
- Select save commands to save the created message.
- Again press” ESC” key.
- Load the message by selecting “LOAD PRINTER” command.
- Message will now be printed on each print.
- To delete existing message after batch completion (F3)
- Press the delete key to delete the batch details .
- Press “ ESC ” key to go sub menu “ message” .
- Select “ Close” or “ save” command to save the message.
- Again through “ESC” key , go to sub menus” message” .
- Select Load printer command.
- Press ENTER key.
- Check the overprinting details prior to start printing.
- To set message parameter: (F4)
- Press functional key F4.
- Following parameter will be display on the LCD.
- Head sense:
- Select head sense parameter.
- Press TAB key. Position of head will be display on the right side of the LCD.
- Select the required position by using selection keys.
- Note: Commonly set “constant speed.
- Press “ESC” key.
- Select required parameter by using selection keys.

- To check ink level status ( F6):
- Press function key F6 to check the status of ink. Following details will be displayed on LCD. Ink 9175:

- Press “ESC” key to go main menu.
- To Check Additive level status (F7):
- Press function key “F7” to check the status of Additive. Following details will be displayed on LCD.

- Press “ESC” key for main menu.
- Print head maintenance:
- Prior to cleaning of print head fix it on the service tray.
- Remove print head cover.
- Press function key F8 for print head maintenance. Following function will be displayed.

- gutter drain Adjust jet
- jet start
- jet stop
- To clean the head, select unblock nozzle.
- Press “ENTER” key.
- Keep it one for approx one min.
- Press” ENTER” key jet will be stop.
- Check if the jet is not in the gutter, select intro cleaning solution function and keep it on for approx.20sec.
- Select check stability function then press “ENTER” key. Keep this function on for approx.1 min .IF jet is stable press “ENTER” key.
- Faults and alarms displayed and their corrective action ( F8)
- If there is any fault occurred, red light blinking will be started.
- Press “i “key to view the fault or alarm.
- Press “ENTER” key to clear the fault or alarm.
- Refer following table for faults and alarm.

- Replacement of Ink and Makeup cartridges:
- Remove cartridge holder from ink and additive component.
- Keep lever of holder at center position and remove the cartridge.
- Replace the cartridge and lock with lever.
- Note: If carried without delays then no need to shutdown the printer:

- Shut down procedure:
- Press ON/OFF key for 2 to 3 min
- Stop in progress will be displayed on the LCD
- Wait until LCD not display Image 9030
- Green power indicator stops flashing and remains off
- Switch off the mains.
- Record the operation time in equipment log book as per SOP.
