SOP for operation of sticker labeling machine (Maharshi)
- Objective:
- To lay down a procedure for operation of sticker labeling machine.
- Scope:
- This SOP is applicable for sticker labeling machine.
- Responsibility:
- Production operator/Technician- responsible for operation of sticker labeling machine.
- Production officer/ Executive – to ensure that operation of sticker labeling machine is carried out as per SOP.
- Accountability:
- Production Head shall be accountable for the compliance of SOP.

- Procedure:
- Pre-startup:
- Check the status of the machine for its operation.
- Visually check the machine and surrounding area for cleanliness.
- Visually check that there is no material of the previous batch / product present.
- Take line clearance from production/in process quality assurance officers before starting the labeling operation and enter the line clearance in batch production record.
- Write the Batch No., Product Name, Date and signature on the machine status tag.
- Get the coding details of the products such as Batch No., Mfg. Date. Exp. Date & Maximum retail price from production officers.
- Take the stickers label roll from the production officers as per the secondary packing material requisition.
- Start up:
- Switch ‘ON’ the mains electric supply to the machine.
- Set the sticker label roll on the label spool shaft provided on the labeling machine.
- Visually check empty roll sensor, Label sensor and No label no vial sensor is properly working & setting procedure given below for the label sensor & No label no vial sensor.
- Setting procedure:
- Label sensor (Red colour): set the sensor through L N key screw lies top of the sensor when light will glow automatically it means output given to the background of the label and also ensure that if label is not available in front of machine then machine should stop automatically.
- Note: If background of the sticker labels changed so again setting required before starting of the machine.
- No Label no vial sensor (Blue colour): Before starting of the machine check No label no vial sensor is working or not if not then set the sensor according to height of the vials .During setting check the red light should come right side of the vial neck and output goes to sensor for stop the machine when without vials label passes through conveyor.
- Load vials on the in feed turn table to labeling machine.
- Switch “ON” the machine and run without vials.
- Fixoname will be display on the MMI screen of machine.
- Press Man key.
- Inching will be display on the MMI screen of machine.
- Again press Man key.
- Len auto detect will be display on the MMI screen of machine.
- Press enter key.
- Label roll move slowly slowly & label length will be display on the MMI screen of machine.
- Again press enter key.
- Press ESC key.
- Fixoname will be display on the MMI screen of machine.
- Press enter key.
- Label speed will be display on the MMI screen of machine.
- Feed the label speed as per the machine setting & requirement through UP increment / Down decrement keys.
- Press enter key.
- Display product delay upon the MMI screen of machine.
- Set the prod. Delay through Up increment / Down decrement keys. Approx. 3.0 mm.
- Press enter key.
- Label length will be display upon the MMI screen of machine.
- Check the label length according the label.
- Press enter key.
- Pre-dispensing length will be display upon the MMI screen of machine.
- Set the pre-dispensing length approx. 6.0 mm through UP increment / Down decrement keys.
- Press enter key.
- Printer 1 time will be display upon on the MMI screen of machine.
- Set the printer 1 time approx. 0.030 sec. through UP increment / Down decrement keys.
- Press enter key.
- Printer 2 time will be display upon the MMI screen of machine.
- Set the printer 2 time approx 0.000 sec. through UP increment / down decrement keys.
- Press enter key.
- Reset total label ‘N’ will be display on the MMI screen of machine.
- Press TOG key.
- Reset total label ‘Y’ & product counter 0.000 will be display on the MMI screen of machine.
- After that, machine & product counter will be ready for printing, labeling & counting of labels.
- Set the inkjet printer according to printing position as per SOP.
- Set the coding impression by ink jet printers and get the coding details, take approval from production/In process quality assurance officers and attach the specimen sample of label in the batch production record, frequency of specimen label is given below.
- Before start of new batch (or) days operation.
- On completion of batch (or) days operation.
- Whenever a new label roll is used for labeling.
- Operation:
- Operate the labeling machine and labeled 5 filled vials.
- Get the approval from production In process quality assurance officer.
- After getting the approval press run key & continue the labeling machine.
- If needed, we can do maximum speed during labeling by pressing “NEXT key” in running condition of machine & minimum speed by pressing “PREV. key”.
- Set the sticker label roll with a new one after completion of the previous label roll and attach the specimen sample of the label in the batch production record and take approval from production / In process quality control officer.
- Continue the operation till completion of the batch.
- Shut down:
- After completion of the batch /days work, switch “off” the labeling machine.
- Remove the left over label roll at the end of the day’s operation. If the labeling of the batch is to be continued on the next days pack the label roll in poly bags and store under lock and key.
- Collect and count the rejected sticker label in polybag. Enter the quantity in batch production record.
- Destroy and dispose off rejected labels.
- Switch “off” the main electric supply and air supply to the machine.
- Record the operation, cleaning and maintenance details in the equipment log book as per SOP get it checked by production officer
