Accident Management

To establish procedures to be followed at the time of any accident during production operation.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Department in charge –Implementation of SOP & Documentation.

Production Supervisor  (Present at the time of the accident) – To take the necessary action as per SOP.

S&E Person – Clearance from S&E aspects.

ACCOUNTABILITY: Production HEAD

PROCEDURE:

Generally following types of accidents happened during operations: –

  • Mechanical failure of equipment.
  • Electrical failure of equipment.
  • Spillage of material.
  • Contamination of material.
  • Leakage of utility valves and controls. 
  • Injury of workmen.
  • Fire at the workplace.

Perform the following operations immediately in case of an accident on the shop floor: –

Switch off the power supply of the respective machine/area and stop the operation.

An intimate safety officer/security officer and a concerned senior production officer are available on the shop floor.

In case of injury of workmen, call first aid personnel immediately and provide medical aid.

Intimate Quality Assurance personnel, in case of problems in process/material.

Isolate affected material and label it as “HOLD” for examination, investigation, and clearance by Q. A. for further process.

Destroy rejects contaminated and spilled material treated as Non-Recoverable Rejects as per SOP.

In case of a fire accident, Use a fire extinguisher/hydrant simultaneously isolating the surroundings whatever is possible.
