SOP for operation, cleaning and maintenance of Fogger.

  • Objective
  • To lay down the procedure for operation, cleaning and maintenance of Fogger.
  • Scope
  • This SOP is applicable for the operation, cleaning and maintenance of Fogger used in the Aseptic area of Sterile Injectable Facility.

  • Procedure
  • Pre-requisites for fogging
  • Relative humidity of 40-50 % is to be maintained in the rooms prior to fogging.
  • AHU should be switched off before fumigation.
  • The rooms should be completely closed without any vent/opening and should be thoroughly checked.
  • Operation of fogger
  • Prepare the required volume of the Disinfectant solution as per SOP.
  • Pour the dilution into the fogger through the funnel provided on the tank lid.
  • Place the fogger at one corner of room mounted at a height of 2 ft. and keep the angle of the nozzle at 45 degrees with the help of adjustment knobs.
  • Adjust the timer switch of the fogger according to the volume of the dilution added.
  • Connect the electrical cord of the fogger to the power supply and the switch on the mains
  • Move out of the room and close the doors completely and do not enter the room for minimum of 40 minutes.
  • Switch on the AHUs after 40 minutes.
  • Cleaning
  • Clean the tank with purified water after every fumigation operation by removing the tank from the blower.
  • Clean the nozzle hole with the help of the pin after every fogging operation
  • After every fogging operation wash the suction air filter & dry thoroughly and then replace it.
  • Wipe the outer body of the fogger after successive fumigation.
  • Maintenance
  • The nozzle hole needs to be cleaned after every fogging.
  • Do not touch the blower head while the fogger is in operation as it get warmed up.
  • Suction air filters need to be washed and dried after every fumigation.
  • After every fumigation add purified water and then start the machine for 2 min for cleaning the inner tubes and nozzle to prevent it from getting chocked.
